We offer SEO Consulting Services to a lot of SEO Companies based in US and UK and this is a very common question that they ask me. What is better, SEO Packages or every time asking for a Customized Quote from their SEO Service Provider [SEO Company based in India]

The situation can be pretty complicated as there are a lot of Pros and Cons attached to it.

It gives the reseller a pretty good indication of how much the package would cost them and how much he is charging from the client and how much he will save. Every time he has to get back to his SEO Service Provider for quotes.
These are off the shelf packages and easier to sell. Less effort to sell. Takes a lot of effort to sell. Preparing Proposals and customizing them.
These are ready made packages so the resellers is not required to go back to his SEO Service Provider for fresh quotes every time, the whole process might delay the sales process and he might loose the customer. The process is time taking.
On the other side most of the customers that resellers have are retail customers / direct customers so a SEO Package might not make a lot of sense to them. This is a customized package which is detailed and the customers like it a lot.
The client feels that he is not being given importance or no special attention is given to his requirement. The customers feel that they are being paid attention to and the SEO Company is taking special interest to promote him.
The deliverables are all mentioned in terms of what would be done however what results he would get is not mentioned. A detailed analysis of the website is done so there is a very clear indication of the keywords on which he would be ranked on. It is easier to measure the performance.
Makes it easier for the client to make a decision if he is price conscious. Makes it easier for the client to make a decision if he is quality conscious.

I personally like a customized quote to be presented to the client in the form of a detailed proposal. This is possible if the SEO Company has some technical knowledge about the deliverables and can draft the proposal themselves. What they require is get the breakdown of each deliverable from their SEO Service Provider so that when they draft the proposal they have a clear indication of what they might be paying for the services. This also suits if the SEO Service Provider has a turnaround time of maximum 1 day for sending a detailed proposal. If this is not possible I would suggest to include the SEO Packages as it is in the proposal with a detailed analysis of their website with suggestions, back all this up with strong clientele and customize it.
